In our Eyjafjallajökull summer tour we concentrate on the area around the volcano Eyjafjallajökull glacier, the volcano that erupted in 2010 and disturbed flight traffic in Europe and far beyond.

During the day we visit the places that were affected by the eruption and give you insight into the feeling of living close to volcanoes through personal stories that never reached the world’s press.

We take you to the scenery of the eruption by cossing the unbridged rivers on our way to Gígjökull, an outlet glacier where the flood from the eruption came down and dramatically changed the landscape. We even continue all the way to Þórsmörk, if you wish, and if conditions are right.

We include a viewing of a most excellent film about the eruption, shown at Þorvaldseyri, one of the farms that was most affected by the eruption. This film documents the family living on the farm, before, during and after the eruption.

To conclude, we go down to the extensive black beaches of the North Atlantic on our way back.

NOTE: This tour can be combined with stops at the local cuisines along the south coast if this is wished.
