Zipline Adventure in South Iceland

Embark on an exhilarating zipline experience in south Iceland suitable for thrill-seekers who appreciate both excitement and safety. The adventure involves a scenic hike through a breathtaking river canyon and four zipline rides, each varying in length (120, 240, 30, and 140 meters). As you glide down the zipline, you’ll enjoy a mesmerizing birds-eye view of the picturesque surroundings.

Commencing the Journey
Located near the village of Vík in South Iceland, the ziplines are nestled amidst beautiful hills and valleys. The adventure begins at Víkurbraut 5 in Vík. After a 5-minute drive, we embark on a 5-minute moderate-paced hike to reach the take-off platform for the first zipline, known as Little Rush. Detailed safety instructions are provided to ensure your comfort and safety during the zipline experience. Once prepared, you eagerly await your turn, and before you know it, you’re soaring above the canyon, filled with excitement and enjoying an unparalleled view of the area.

The Grand Finale
Adjacent to the first zipline, the second, The Gentle Giant, awaits. Stretching over 240 meters, it is often lauded as the most scenic ride. After the safe completion of the initial ziplines, a brief 10-minute hike through the unique rock formation of Grafargil (Grave Canyon) leads to the next activity, Leap of Faith – the shortest line, with a few surprises we won’t divulge now to maintain the element of surprise. The adventure concludes with the fourth zipline, Big Rush, which takes you over the stunning Hundafoss (Dog’s waterfall). Depending on weather conditions, a short hike back to our base may be offered to wrap up the experience.

Availability:
We have daily departures from Easter to Christmas (or thereabout).

Duration:
The whole tour takes 1,5 – 2 hours. Depending on the size and shape of the group, along with weather conditions.

Additional Information

What should I wear?
Hiking shoes and warm, windproof clothes – dress according to the weather; gloves and a thin beanie are optional. Braiding long hair or tying it in a low bun to fit under the helmet is recommened.

Weather:
Sometimes departure times need to be changed slightly due to the weather. Please check your email before your booked time and include your phone number when booking so you are reachable in case you need to be contacted.

Age limit:
You must be age 8 or older. A legal guardian must accompany or sign to allow kids under 18 to zip.

Weight:
Participants must weigh between 30 – 120 kg. (65-260 lbs.)

What kind of shoes do you need?
It’s best to wear waterproof hiking boots or trail running shoes with a fully-enclosed toe and heel and a good sole.

Fitness level?
You must be able to hike ca. 3 km. (or 1-2 miles) at elevation and over an uneven surface.

Pregnant ladies
Sorry, it’s not safe to zipline while you’re pregnant.

When should you arrive?
Check-in 30 minutes before your tour time. Come ready to get outside your comfort zone and have a blast!
