Fjallabak Nature Reserve is one of Iceland’s most beautiful areas, ask any Icelander! It’s remote and raw. Volcanic landscape, geothermal activity, rhyolite and obsidian color palette and lava fields are few of the things that lure people to this spectacular place. Fjallabak was protected in 1979 and is 44,633.4 ha in size. Expect to be moved by Fjallabak’s charm!
The hike is around 8-10 km, or 3-4 hours. We will choose the best hiking route on the day of the tour depending on road conditions and weather.
Please note: No hiking experience is needed but you need to be fit enough to hike for 4 hours and have the stamina to hike up mountains. The route is uneven and will take you uphill and downhill.
