Life Coaching in Iceland with Midgard

Björg & Mummi, Midgard’s life-coaches

Björg and Mummi are a mother and a son. They are both certified life coaches, adventure guides, yoga teachers and rescue team members. They have a shared passion for life, people, adventure and growth.

In Björg’s own words…

I got poisoned for life by a nature enthusiast grandmother that during childhood brought me inside and outside of the country and taught me to enjoy the journey. Another life changing experience was to be raised in an environment of affairs and cheating, excused by the ordinary day “being too dull”. This made me decide to try to make each of my ordinary days an adventure. My background is in nursing, at hospitals, a part of a start up and within the pharmaceutical business. In 2004 I did my MBA, followed by the guiding school and thereafter two years of rescue team training and a yoga teacher training. In 2013 nature called and I got this huge urge to change paths. I then moved away from home, still happily married, and joined my older son, Addi, in his new business at that time, Midgard. Working now as Midgard´s CEO I can combine what I enjoy the most, being with people and being in nature.

My values are close connections and freedom. When younger my freedom value was more about getting freedom from things or obligations but now I feel the power in having a freedom to love, to smile, to play and to do whatever inspires me.

My aim is to feel alive and inspired 80% of my time and even 100% at some point. Having said that this does not mean that I am happy the whole time and I do allow myself to feel down and use that time as well.

This trip is a special one for me. It’s a project very close to my heart and I’m really excited to lead the group through life coaching work and use Iceland’s amazing nature to deepen the experience. I look forward to meeting you!

Björg Árnadóttir, Midgard's CEO, Iceland

In Mummi’s own words…

Raised up by really active parents, one marathon runner and a scout leader. It was quite obvious that I would like the outdoors. I was young when I became a rescue team member and around 17 years old I dedicated my life to guiding and in 2014 I studied adventure guiding.

At that time I felt like I had had enough of the city so I slowly moved to the countryside where I became a sheep farmer with my fiance and our lovely kids, Steinn and Heiða. Soon I figured out that sheep farming was not my passion but mountain biking was and has always been, so we combined the bikes with the farm and started a company called Iceland Bikefarm.

Living on the farm has been my biggest school of life so far…inside and out.
I have had my share of high ups and low downs and it was in one of my downs where I was trail-running in my backyard and this question hit me: Am I living to my full potential?
I came in from the run and wrote down three core things that lift me up in life: Staying active, adventure and people. So I googled fitness coaching and this link popped up “Become a Life Coach”, I clicked it and two days later I was in the school, learning how to become a life coach. This is where my life took a shift and today, life coaching is not only my passion, it’s my mission and my mission is to spread the message and help others!

The reason why me and my mom (Björg) wanted to make this trip a reality is because we share the passion to be inspired and what is better than helping others to get inspired and live their life to the fullest. That is our ultimate goal with this trip.”

Mummi Markússon, Life Coach, Midgard Iceland
