- You don’t need to think about transport (that’s usually a bit of a headache). We transfer you from Midgard Base Camp to Skógar (where the hike starts) and pick you up in Þórsmörk (Thorsmork) where the hike ends and drive you back to Midgard Base Camp.
- After the hike, a delicious hamburger barbecue + beers/soda will be waiting for you.
TOUR DESCRIPTION
You meet at Midgard Base Camp in the morning. After a short intro and safety briefing, the group is transported to Skógar waterfall (around 30 min).
When everyone is ready, we start the hike following the Skógá river. This part of the hike is especially stunning with over 20+ waterfalls. From there, we head between Eyjafjallajökull (which erupted in 2010) and Mýrdalsjökull (with the Katla below).
We cross the 2010 volcanic area; its lavas are still warm, with the two new craters Magni and Móði standing proud. Descending into beautiful Þórsmörk is like standing atop the world, looking down on unimaginable, glorious creation.
After celebrating our accomplishment and enjoying a hamburger barbecue and drinks, we return to Midgard Base Camp in a super jeep or big bus, crossing unabridged rivers.

Distance: 24 kms, elevation 1,400m, highest point: 1050m, hike 9-12hrs, total trip 11-14hrs.
Please note: This is a demanding and long hike (24 km in total). You need to be fit enough to hike for 9-12 hours and have the stamina to hike up mountains. The path is uneven at times, taking you uphill and downhill.
