Thingvellir National Park
UNESCO World Heritage Site of Þingvellir, the most historically significant site in all of Iceland, hosting the oldest democratic Parliament in the world. The Þingvellir area is filled with evidence of tectonic activity, located on the borders of the North American and European plates that are actively separating.
Geysir
Geysir is the grand old geyser that gave all geysers their name. These days, it’s mostly its feisty little sibling, Strokkur, stealing the show, erupting every few minutes with a powerful blast of steaming water. The ground here is alive, bubbling and flowing under your feet. You’ll notice the classic Icelandic scent of geothermal energy in the air. Stand back, have your camera ready, and don’t blink, Strokkur likes to surprise!
Gullfoss Waterfall
The name literally means “Golden Falls”. Gullfoss is one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls. Feel the raw power of these falls from a number of viewing platforms, or the warm cafe if you need some extra fuel for yourself.

We enjoy having lunch at Friðheimar, a family-run tomato farm where you can dine inside a working greenhouse. (For short-notice bookings in the summer, we cannot guarantee a reservation at Frieðheimar)

If time allows we could also pass by Skálholt, a historical site with a cathedral built in the middle ages and Kerið, a volcanic crater lake.
